Setting up a grid in Atlas

This guide will provide you with assistance on how to setup a custom grid on your server with Streamline Servers.

Setting up your Grid

Setting up your grid with streamline is a three-step process:

  1. Create and upload your grid configuration file (ServerGrid.json) and map images or keep the default 1x1 map
  2. Add slave servers to your main server or start off with just the single main server
  3. Assign your servers to areas in the grid

Creating ServerGrid.json

You can skip this section if you want to use the default 1x1 map.

There is a map editor freely available at https://github.com/GrapeshotGames/ServerGridEditor

This tool from the developers can be used to created your own individual maps! You can place islands where ever you wish and set everything how you like.

While editing your configuration, there are a few settings you need to take from the default config with us.

  • WorldAtlasId - Set this to anything you want
  • MetaWorldURL - Ignore
  • ip - Your game server IP
  • port - Game Port +1
  • gamePort - Game Port
  • seamlessPort - Copy from previous config

On save, the editor will create a file typically called “ServerGrid.json”. This file contains the definition of your game world. Once you edit the above settings manually, you will be able to go into the 'Configuration Editor' and edit the 'servergrid.json'

Notes:

Changing ServerGrid.json - Warning
Please note that if you edit your map after playing on it, it may cause issues in the server. For example, moving islands, the structures and players will not move with the change. We only recommend changing parts of the grid that haven't been played on yet.
