How to add mods to your Insurgency: Sandstorm server

Follow the steps below on how to install mods onto your Insurgency: Sandstorm server

  1. You will need to have a mod.io account. Once you have signed in, click your username at the top right, and click API Access from the left navigation.
  2. Under OAuth 2 Management, under Generate Access Token, enter a name to give your token and give it read access (write access is not needed) and click Create Token.
  3. Edit GameUserSettings.ini file from the Game Panel Configuration Files and paste your Access Token that you've copied from Mod.io.
  4. Now you have entered your authentication token and your server is ready to start accepting mods. Make sure your commandline has the mods enabled option.
  5. Edit Mods.txt file from the Game Panel Configuration Files and add the Mod IDs line by line.
  6. Go back to the command line manager and enter the mutators needed for the mod to make it work.
  7. Start the server and it should download the mods you have specified in the Mods.txt file.

More information can be found on https://mod.io/g/insurgencysandstorm/r/server-admin-guide#heading-24

Please be aware that certain mods may be outdated, which can lead to difficulties when starting the server. To resolve this issue, we recommend removing the problematic mods and awaiting updates from the mod developers to ensure compatibility with the latest version of the game server.
